The old saying holds true “you don’t know what you got till its gone”. And Friday, at about 3:30ish in the afternoon, after lunch, after bathroom break, after I decided I had nothing else productive to do at work, it was GONE. No, I am not talking about the significant other. I am talking about my other love, the one that doesn’t judge, doesn’t talk back, doesn’t leave me alone at dinner(ahem), and is always there greeting me with bright colors and tacky delightfulness.
Yes. I am talking about forever21.com. The one website that has taken me out of my afternoon misery time and time again. Having a bad day? No problem! log on to www.forever21.com and POOF bad-day-gone! It really is that simple.
All you have to do is browse through their massive amounts of inventory, add fun items to your cart and simultaneously as you click ADD, a smile takes over your face like no other. No. I do not have a shopping problem. Just because items are added to my cart does not mean I actually checkout. The items just sit there... all alone... week after week.. waiting to find a happy home. Until either the merchandise is out of stock, the item is ‘no longer available’ or I remove the item because I suddenly realize the polka dot hot pink leggings are not as cute as I once thought and what was I thinking anyway? This online ritual works well because there is no buyers remorse, no guilty feeling, because nothing is purchased. Its just uplifting, fulfilling, and makes my work days go by much faster.
But what happened to me last week when I went online for a little sneak peak at my shopping cart is indescribable, unforgivable-no words could describe the empty space in my heart when I realized the website had been blocked by our one IT personnel. Seriously? I mean seriously? You find the need to block www.forever21.com but still give us unlimited access to you tube, twitter, and facebook? (you-twit-face!!) Not that I’m complaining because these websites are pretty entertaining as well, but I mean SERIOUSLY? So what will I do today? How will I combat the deadly Monday afternoon blues when they strike at around 3:00ish? ...help...
