The world wide web!
One of the biggest breakthoughs in the world of science & technology is of course the internet. With the internet you are able to connect with other people, even those that are miles apart and in different time zones. The internet is its own time zone, catered by you - the user. It does not care whether its 3am or 3pm when you are surfing the web, it will always have the most current news and information available to you. The internet enables everyone to know the latest about news, fashion, current events, politics, music and every now and again, your occasional funny story...
This is mine:
So I was taking my son to his routine infant check up, the usual conversation goes on between me and his pediatrician..is he eating ok, is he pooping, we discuss the color of his poop for about 5 minutes, he tells me I could begin giving him solids..he warns me about the new colors of his poop once he begins solids...
Apparently pooping is very important with children. I have never in my life paid so much attention to the consistency and colors of poop till now. It seems to be normal conversation nowadays, even between my husband and I, "You should've seen the stinky pelet looking poop that came out of your son!" "Really, so when he poops stinky, he is my son?!" "Yes babe, you know I'm not the stinky one so he sure didn't get that from me!"
Anyway, so somewhere along the lines of the poop convo the doctor is flipping Lucas back and forth and he seems astonished at Lucas' nonchalant, carefree ways. Apparently other babies would be screaming by then but not Lucas, he was as calm and carefree as a lettuce! (I guess that doesn't translate quite the same as 'fresca como una lechuga! lol)I don't know what we did or who's karmic deeds we are benefiting from, but man did we get lucky with our little Lukey. So the doc says: "este bebe es un jamon!" I thought it was a cute remark, since you could tell the doctor has a genuine interest in children (not like Dr. Levine! AHEM!) but didn't quite understand the comment.
Being the curious soul that I am, I come home and google different variations of 'jamon' and references of a baby and jamon and life and jamon and come across my new blogger friend's site. Usually I would just peruse the web unannounced but since her blog was so cute and welcoming I decided to email her & share with her my jamon! I told her the story of how I stumbled upon her blog yada yada yada, and it turns out we actually have the pediatrician as a common denominator! Another funny coincidence brought to you in part by the world wide web!
